ARROBADERA 4.0

Arrobadera 4.0: Design of a sensorized mechanical system for the separation of manure inside swine facilities»

The general objective of the project consists of the design and construction of a sensorized and automated swine prototype, for the automatic removal of slurry in swine facilities, as well as the digitalization of the facilities for the objective reduction of the concentration of ammonia and gases. greenhouse effect (GHG) inside these facilities.

The project is led by the Spanish Cluster of Pig Producers (I+Porc), and in which they participate., Imasde Agroalimentaria, SL (Imasde), Piensos Costa S.A: (Piensos Costa), the company Etxe Holz S.L. (Etxe Holsz) , and with our collaboration.

Achieving the objective will not only provide advantages with respect to NH3 and other GHG emissions from pig farms, but will also allow empirical verification of compliance with regulations (ECOGAN calculations), as well as the application of massive data processing techniques to evaluate the effect of other variables related to the management or feeding of animals on the production of polluting gases. Through an IoT system connected to a storage and computing system in the cloud, the aim is to convert data into information that allows empirical verification of compliance with current regulations, the benefits of reducing gas emissions in production. swine, biosafety and hygiene, alternatives for revaluating manure and/or purification possibilities that reduce the water footprint (reducing gray water).

Project's information

Specific objectives

Definition of the variables and data collection, storage and visualization systems.

  • Installation of sensors and data capture for the definition of a reference standard

Sensorization of pig fattening farms for the automatic capture of data that allows evaluating and managing the management of slurry inside the barn.

Analysis of variables measured in real time related to the emission of polluting gases inside pig fattening buildings and design and validation of novel alternatives (MTD) to reduce these emissions.

  • Categorization of slurry by separating the liquid and solid fraction, depending on the operation of the slurry and the design of the pits.
  • Design of a sensorized and automated prototype of an intelligent arrobadera.
  • Communication and dissemination of project progress.
